Bring him back

On Friday, former FBI Director James Comey was summoned to testify in front of the House Oversight and Judiciary Committee. The closed door proceedings rehashed Comey's knowledge on a variety of topics such as RussiaHillary Clinton emails, the Trump dossier, and more.

A never Trumper

Following his six hour session with Congress, Comey made the rounds on TV and publicly stated his support for anyone besides Trump in 2020. Republicans plan to bring Comey back for more questioning next week.

The left claims Republicans in the House are abusing their last few weeks of power by calling in Comey for unnecessary questioning. This side believes Republicans are trying to undermine Mueller's Russia investigation and in the process are only revealing their true intentions.

The right goes after Comey by calling him 'partisan' for stating that Democrats ‘have to win’ in 2020. They use this as an opportunity to claim that he was probably being partisan against Trump all along. This side also notes that during the hearing Comey stated he "didn't remember" or "doesn't recall" to over 200 questions.

So why exactly is Comey in the news again?

It seems that the coming shift in power has lit a fire under House Republicans to do the most with what time they have left in power. They were hoping to get some nuggets out of Comey that would help Trump against Mueller's probe. Instead, what they got was a well-prepared Comey who turned this into a media opportunity to voice his opposition against Trump.

Comey = Colbert?
