2020 Vision is Official 👓👀

Never too early to start
President Trump has officially announced his campaign manager for 2020. He’s chosen Brad Parscale, the former digital director of his 2016 campaign. Parscale is credited with helping Trump win the presidency with a strong digital strategy.

Never without controversy
Trump’s decision has been critiqued because Parscale is a suspect in the FBI’s ongoing investigation into Trump/Russia election collusion. He is high on the FBI’s suspect list because he has the know-how to aid the Russians in their targeted social media advertising campaigns. In addition, there are still 980 days left before the 2020 election, so some are criticizing Trump for campaigning too early.

The right says that tapping Parscale as campaign manager is a ‘brilliant’ move, since Parscale is “credited with possibly tipping the [2016] election.” They focus on how Parscale is a tech ‘genius’, and how he can use his expertise to keep Trump in office. They conveniently skim over Parscale’s alleged ties to Russia and his role in the FBI investigation. The right is excited Trump is starting to campaign so early.

The left is very focused on Parscale’s possible ties to Russian interference in the 2016 elections. NY Mag says, “Experts don’t think the trolls behind Russian Facebook accounts could have determined who to target on their own….. the leading suspects at this point are Kushner and Brad Parscale.” The left wants to spin this campaign news to work in Russian collusion once again.

Is Parscale the right guy for Trump?
Parscale appears to be a solid choice for the 2020 campaign given his strengths in the increasingly important digital space. Many have said that “his leadership and expertise will help build a best-in-class campaign”. However, none of this matters if he was involved with Russian interference in the 2016 campaign. If he is willing to sacrifice his professional ethics and integrity to ‘win’, then how can Americans trust him or Trump?
